François Luambo Luanzo Makiadi was a musician from Congo. He was a prominent figure in 20th-century Congolese music and African music in general, serving as the leader of TPOK Jazz for over 30 years. He is known as Franco Luambo or simply as Franco. His mastery of African Rumba earned him the nicknames "Sorcerer of the Guitar" and "Grand Master of Zairean Music" from admirers and critics, as well as "Franco de Mi Amor" from female devotees. Franco's charismatic stage presence and accessibility to the masses made him a beloved figure. Even after his passing, his legacy as a prominent African musician and political influencer continues to resonate across the continent.

Formed in 1982, the Congolese band Victoria Eleison, a Zaiko Langa Langa(Congolese soukous band) descendant, was led by charismatic singer "Kester" Emeneya. Kosmos gained recognition for hits like "Ebandeli ya Mosala," "Makambo Mibale," and "Miléna." He later co-founded the Trio CEPAKOS and continued with his backing band, Le Peuple. In 1980, he ventured to Paris, releasing three successful solo albums, including "Kamani Mado." Kosmos faced career challenges due to political and economic turmoil in Congo-Brazzaville during the 1990s, but his music legacy endured.
